Call of Duty: Warzone players find giant missile thanks to Black Ops Cold War ARG

For weeks, there’s been an ongoing alternate reality game, or ARG, going on inside the Call of Duty community, with some streamers and press getting vintage projectors sent to their homes that contained clues about this year’s Call of Duty game. Activision has already started teasing the next entry, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War, but players also used the ARG to discover a new secret in the Call of Duty: Warzone map.

On Wednesday, Reddit user Uli909 posted a short clip to the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit that may offer a hint about an imminent in-game reveal.

The clip shows players accessing a new bunker deep inside the map by inputting a code. They find a giant missile, which could presumably play into Black Ops: Cold War. Unlike some of other Warzone Easter eggs, the code doesn’t change game to game — meaning you can see it for yourself without much effort.

According to Uli909, players found out how to get into the code thanks to the ARG’s website, PawnTakesPawn. New codes pop up daily on the website, and Wednesday’s code displayed an easily decipherable message: WZ-F8-60274513. Uli909 deciphered the code, realizing WZ meant Warzone, with F8 telling the sector of the map to look in. After finding the new bunker, players input the remaining part of the code and found their way inside.

In the Reddit post, some players speculate that the missile could destroy all of Verdansk — the current Warzone map. “I think what’s gonna happen is that the missile is gonna destroy the whole map, officially ending Warzone in [Modern Warfare] and then we start on a new [battle royale] map in Cold War,” wrote Reddit user ReaperYash05. This would play into the idea that Warzone will live on past Modern Warfare.

If you want to see the missile yourself, drop in sector F8, near the road. Go through the silver door, and input 60274513 on the keypad. There are some loot chests near the silo. It’s currently unclear what will happen with the new missile. But we’ll likely learn more when Activision unveils Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War on Aug. 26.
