Destiny 2: Trials of Osiris won’t return until later this month

After a tumultuous month for Trials of Osiris, Destiny 2’s competitive weekend-only multiplayer mode, Bungie announced another delay. Trials of Osiris will return on Dec. 18, assuming Bungie doesn’t find any more problems.

Trials of Osiris hasn’t seen a full weekend of play since Destiny 2: Beyond Light launched on Nov. 10. A few days after Beyond Light, Bungie announced plans to delay the mode until Nov. 27.

Come Nov. 27, Trials did go live — but only for five minutes. At 12:06 EST, Bungie announced it had discovered another bug with Trials of Osiris, and needed to shut it down until further notice. Thursday’s announcement of a Dec. 18 relaunch is the latest information we have regarding its return, but it seems fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high.

Once Trials does come back, this will be the longest hiatus for the competitive mode since Bungie revived it earlier this year. In Beyond Light, Bungie introduced Adept weapons into Trials of Osiris — a slightly better version of the Trials weapons reserved for Flawless players.

If all goes according to plan, Destiny fans should only need to wait another two weeks to get their hands on Adept weapons.
