The Last Of Us Part 2 Drops To $40 On PSN After Prime Day

One of Amazon Prime Day’s biggest game deals was The Last of Us Part II for $40, but if you missed out on snagging the game at that price, you have another chance to take advantage of the discount digitally. Starting today, The Last of Us Part II is down to $40.19 on the PlayStation Store, while the Digital Deluxe edition is on sale for $49.69. With the game’s very long single-player story, that’s plenty of bang for your buck, and if you have PlayStation Plus and are planning to get the PS5, you can even save it to play after finishing up The Last of Us: Remastered via the PlayStation Plus Collection.

The PlayStation Store deals on The Last of Us Part II will only be available through Monday, ending at midnight PT / 3 AM ET on October 20, so don’t wait too long if you’ve been waiting for a significant price drop on Naughty Dog’s acclaimed adventure.

Although The Last of Us II is a PS4 game, it’s among the vast majority of the system’s games that will also be playable on PS5 through backwards compatibility. Naughty Dog recently confirmed that all of its PS4 games will be playable on PS5, making this an opportunity to pick up the game at a discount for use on the next-gen console. Just be aware that we don’t know what enhancements that hardware might offer (improved loading times are a safe bet), but this digital copy will also be downloadable and playable on PS5.

The Last of Us II is the follow-up to 2013’s The Last of Us and sees players assume control of an older and more hardened Ellie. You can read all about it in our spoiler-free Last of Us II review, which awarded the game an 8/10. It takes some big narrative risks, and they pay off with a story that is structured far differently from its predecessor. It still feels like The Last of Us, but it isn’t a retread.
