Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Bunny Day Event Is Uniting The World More Than The Pandemic

The spread of Covid-19 has been a difficult time for most people. The vast majority are stuck indoors in self-isolated quarantine in order to defeat this pandemic. In this trying time, we all need something to help us all come together and take our minds off of this terrible disease.

Nintendo, in their infinite wisdom, attempted to do just that by unleashing the Bunny Day event upon the unsuspecting populace currently playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. And it has helped unite gamers everywhere, although perhaps not in the way Nintendo intended.

To The Wood Chipper With Zipper!

Let’s face it: Bunny Day is kind of dumb. Zipper T. Bunny’s insane egg obsession has caused islands everywhere to be overrun with these hand-painted ovals of disappointment and players are more annoyed than enraptured. Having a frantically happy rabbit-person practically scream in your face via rhyme to collect eggs isn’t the best way to deal with a national emergency.

As a result, Animal Crossing players are expressing the way they feel via the best possible method: Memes.

Unsurprisingly, AC players are coping with Covid by taking it out on the disturbingly chipper Zipper T. Bunny. Most are irritated by the fact that instead of resources that can be used for, oh you know, something useful, they’re instead finding eggs upon eggs upon eggs.

Not being able to find hardwood or fishing up an egg instead of an oarfish is a major aspect of why fans are fed up with Zipper. But while that’s a fine reason to despise his hippity hoppity ways, it seems to be a general consensus that people hate him because he’s just so damn creepy.

Even the other villagers are terrified of him:

Naturally, when confronted with a horrifying nightmare rabbit, gamers everywhere are trying to come up with a solution to rid themselves of this unfortunate fate. Many have gone straight to the most obvious fix to the problem: murdering Zipper T. Bunny.

Of course, since this is the magical utopia of Animal Crossing, there’s no option to kill someone no matter how many eggs they keep shoving into your island. So it means that players have had to get creative with how they deal with the long-eared menace.

But of course, if we can’t get rid of Zipper, the best we can do is simply annoy him as much as he annoys us:

Nintendo probably didn’t intend for all Animal Crossing players to unite against an egg-burying bunny, but that’s essentially what has happened. Through our collective hatred of Zipper and Bunny Day, gamers everywhere have gained common ground and a better understanding of one another. Even though this period in time sucks for various reasons, at least we can all band together and say in solidarity: “screw that dead-eyed rabbit!”

But just keep in mind, for as much as we hate Bunny Day, there’s a strong chance that Zipper hates it more than we ever could.
