Just before Beyond Light arrived last November, Bungie told us that the returning Cosmodrome wouldn’t be exactly as Destiny veterans remember. Parts of it would be missing, while others would be slightly altered to better support its new home in Destiny 2. The plan was to build out the Cosmodrome over the course of the season to get things to a rough “parity” with the original Destiny, but it looks like those plans have changed.
In the developer’s latest update, Bungie has decided that they just don’t have the resources to build new Destiny 2 content while continuing to build the old Cosmodrome.
“As we approached Beyond Light’s launch, it became clear to us that we had a choice to make,” wrote Bungie. “After returning all three of its original strikes, do we invest more time and resources in bringing Cosmodrome to D1 parity or do we switch our focus to building new experiences for Year 4 and beyond?
“Given that we believed we had achieved our original goals and knowing the community and team’s desire for new content, we chose the latter option. But, when we made that decision, we failed to properly update your expectations for how far the Cosmodrome experience was going to be extended and that was a mistake. So, to clear things up: With the Devil’s Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strikes returning, we don’t have any active plans to add more to the Cosmodrome than what is there will be focusing on new updates overall.”
Despite being indicated that both Devil’s Lair and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strikes would be available on February 9th, only Devil’s Lair has returned so far. It’s also only available as the weekly Nightfall and cannot be accessed from the Cosmodrome directly. Fallen S.A.B.E.R. is nowhere to be found.
Season of the Chosen has been full of surprises, from an accidental nerf to the Eyes of Tomorrow Rocket Launcher to a QOL change at the Gunsmith that has Guardians cheering. There are also a ton of new weapons to farm from both playlist activities and the new seasonal Battlegrounds activity.

Actually a collective of 6 hamsters piloting a human-shaped robot, Sean hails from Toronto, Canada. Passionate about gaming from a young age, those hamsters would probably have taken over the world by now if they didn’t vastly prefer playing and writing about video games instead.
The hamsters are so far into their long-con that they’ve managed to acquire a bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo and used that to convince the fine editors at TheGamer that they can write “gud werds,” when in reality they just have a very sophisticated spellchecker program installed in the robot’s central processing unit.
