As a primarily narrative-focused game, the puzzles in Tell Me Why generally don’t impose a large enough hurdle that your progress is halted for more than a minute or two. In chapter two, however, there is one puzzle that is a bit more difficult than any of the others the game will throw at you, and you won’t be able to progress without solving it. This puzzle involves figuring out how to fix the fuse box to restore power to the house and garage, and even with the clues and hints the game gives you, can be a major roadblock. Here’s how to solve this puzzle and continue on with the story.
How To Fix The Fuse Box In Tell Me Why Chapter 2
Once you’re out in the garage during chapter 2, and Alyson gets rid of the men so she can fix the fuse box herself, you will need to place a series of fuses into the fuse box correctly. There are six slots you need to place different amp fuses, either 15, 20, or 30, in order to reach a total of 120. Starting from the left side of the top row the fuses need to be:
- 30 Amp Fuse
- 20 Amp Fuse
- 20 Amp Fuse
- 15 Amp Fuse
The two on the bottom row will then be:
- 20 Amp Fuse
- 15 Amp Fuse
Alternatively, if you didn’t want to solve this puzzle the long way by doing the math to make sure all the fuses added up, the developers put in another way you can solve this puzzle very easily. As you place each fuse you probably noticed that each different amp fuse is colored differently, with red ones all being 30 amp, yellow all 20 amp, and all the blues are 15 amps. It turns out that you can just look at the wires below each fuse slot to know what fuse should be placed there.
For example, the cables on the top row are red, yellow, yellow, and blue, which line up with the solution of 30, 20, 20, and 15 amp fuses. Whichever method you choose to go with, once you have placed all the fuses correctly the power will be back online and you can begin exploring the garage with Tyler.
