The Last Of Us 2 Character Is Still Playing PlayStation Vita

With The Last of Us Part 2 only three weeks away, developer Naughty Dog has shared an extended look at gameplay during a new State of Play livestream. In the gameplay sequence, we caught a glimpse of an interesting easter egg: an NPC hanging out with a PS Vita in her hand. The game is supposed to take place decades after an apocalypse, but Sony’s underrated handheld has still managed to survive.

In the encounter, below, Ellie is seen swimming through some flooded facility controlled by an enemy faction. As Ellie gets out of the water, she holds an enemy NPC hostage to gather some information from her before ultimately taking her life. What’s curious about the encounter, though, is that the NPC is seen playing Dennaton Games’ breakout title Hotline Miami on a PlayStation Vita. You can hear the track “Hydrogen” bumping in the connected earbuds.

The official Hotline Miami Twitter account chimed in to remind everyone that the twin-stick shooter is, in fact, available on PS Vita. The game is also on Android devices, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS3, PS4, and Xbox One.

We awarded the game an 8.5/10 in our Hotline Miami review, saying, “Hotline Miami is a discotheque of death that’s very hard to walk away from, and a fantastic twitch shooter with a confident sense of style.” Both Hotline Miami and its sequel, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, are available in the Hotline Miami Collection.

The latest State of Play livestream revealed a bunch of new The Last of Us Part 2 gameplay details, such as some new enemy types, the game’s two warring factions, and more.

The Last of Us Part 2 is slated to hit PlayStation 4 on June 19. Check out our Last of Us Part 2 pre-order guide to learn more about the various bonuses you can get for buying the game early.
